A guest bedroom is more than just a place to rest your head after a long day of catching up with family and friends. It’s also a place where you should get the feeling of a luxurious getaway with all the warmth and comforts of home.

By pairing luxurious and cozy elements, you can create the perfect bedroom for all guests that you welcome into your home.

So how do you create a 5-star resort ambiance right at home? Luxury, of course!

Simple swaps in interior design easily create a luxurious ambiance. Wall finish for example is one such area. Where possible, we love the idea of incorporating rich and unique wallpaper in a guest room design. Even if it’s just on an accent wall, wallpaper adds warmth, depth and customized style. With so many beautiful prints and exciting textures, the right wallpaper will take your guest room to the next level.

Make sure your guest room is refreshed with plenty of crisp, high-quality bedding and plush towels. Remember, the higher the thread count, the softer the sheet. So it’s definitely worth the splurge! We also love the look and aesthetic of white linens. It’s clean, refreshing and always chic. What guest wouldn’t love a comfortable bathrobe and cozy slippers? Package them beautifully with a handwritten welcome note and a sprig of lavender!

What’s the very first question a guest asks after “how are you”? “What’s the wifi”, of course! So why not be one step ahead? Type up your wifi information and place it in a frame on your guest room nightstand. What an organized and thoughtful gesture sure to be loved by your guests.

No more coffee to go when you offer your guests their very own en-suite coffee bar. All it takes is your favorite coffee maker, a flavorful array of coffee pods, a tray of bottled water beautifully lined up with mugs and flavorings such as sugar, creamer and cinnamon. Your guests can now customize their morning brew right out of bed.

Easy to create and oh-so appreciated! An exquisite reading nook is a heavenly escape at the end of any day. Your favorite chair finished in a plush textile will do the trick. A yummy bouclé fabric is one of our go-to’s! To make this space private and warm, add mood lighting and a scented candle on a modern side table.  Pair this with your favorite new book recommendation and the latest magazines that your guest is sure to appreciate.

How do you create warmth? A warm color palette is the first step. Neutrals are always a great backdrop for any relaxing space, so keep that in mind when selecting your staple pieces like nightstands and wall-coverings.

Layering textures in blankets, throw pillows, and accessories will take your space from the feel of a hotel room to that of a home away from home. Incorporating textures like bouclé, grasscloth and chenille add interest and warmth.

An easy way to make your guest suite inviting is by creating a layered window treatment. One layer provides privacy with the option of natural light, while the other will darken the room completely for a great night’s sleep. Your guests can customize as they wish.

While lighting is one of the most important elements in any design, it is even more so in the design of a guest room. Always use dimmers when possible, as they allow for customization based on need. Don’t forget to layer in additional lighting through wall sconces, chandeliers, table or floor lamps to level up the serene ambiance.

Lastly, you can never go wrong with fresh flowers in any space! Not only do they add a pop of color to the design but they also make the room more inviting by adding a natural element into the mix. Not to mention, a fresh bouquet shows your guests that you were excited about their arrival and wanted to make everything perfect for them!
