Where We Find Fall Design Inspiration on Long Island

We love fall on Long Island.

The cooler weather, changing leaves and return to cozy dinners at home make us want our interiors to feel a little warmer too.

But you probably won’t see us filling a room with orange pillows and pumpkin décor. For us, fall is about warmth, texture, deeper colors and layers that make a home feel inviting. And there’s plenty of inspiration right here on Long Island.

Heritage Farm & Garden | Muttontown

If you’ve never been to Heritage in the fall, go!

The inspiration goes far beyond pumpkins. Their displays combine rich burgundies, muted greens and soft neutrals that translate beautifully into interiors. Natural textures and layered greenery can inspire everything from fabrics and finishes to unexpected color combinations.

Old Westbury Gardens | Old Westbury

Old Westbury Gardens is beautiful year round, but there’s something special about it in the fall.

We love the architecture and how everything feels elegant without being overly perfect. It’s similar to how we approach interiors. A little structure, a little softness and nothing so precious that you’re afraid to enjoy it.

Youngs Farm | Old Brookville

Youngs Farm just feels like fall on the North Shore. The farm stand, fresh produce, flowers and baskets are simple and beautiful without trying too hard.

It’s also a reminder that bringing fall inside doesn’t have to mean redecorating. Fill a beautiful bowl with apples or pears, bring home seasonal flowers or clip a few branches from outside.

Hicks Nurseries | Westbury

We could spend way too much time wandering around Hicks in the fall. Beyond the pumpkins and mums, we notice the ornamental grasses, woven baskets and layers of natural texture.

Texture is something we use constantly in our projects. A bouclé chair, woven wallcovering, chunky throw or natural wood accent can completely change the feeling of a room without screaming for attention.

And Honestly… Just Take a Drive

Drive around the North Shore or head toward the North Fork and look around. From old barns and stone walls to farm stands and weathered wood, there are beautiful color combinations and natural materials everywhere.

We’re constantly taking pictures because something catches our eye. And yes, sometimes a photo of a leaf or old barn door really does become inspiration for a room.

For us, bringing fall home is less about decorating for the season and more about creating a feeling. Warmer, cozier and more layered. It can be as simple as a beautiful throw, a deeper accent color or a vase filled with branches from outside.

You don’t need a house full of pumpkins to make your home feel like fall. Although we’ll never say no to one really good heirloom pumpkin.

Happy fall from all of us at Luxe Design! Thinking about making some bigger changes at home? Schedule your complimentary call today.
