Long Island Design Spotlight: Summit Sanctuary

Long Island Design Spotlight: Summit Sanctuary

Some projects leave a lasting impression long after the final detail is in place.

In our Summit Sanctuary Long Island design project, a once-forgotten room—a space that had been a dumping ground for camp trunks and miscellaneous items—became the family’s most cherished hangout spot.

Join us as we take you through the journey of how we turned this overlooked space into a stylish, functional retreat that now brings the family together every day.

First, the clients approached us with a vision.

They wanted a space that would not only be functional but also bring the family together for both everyday moments and special occasions.

The challenge? Designing a room that could seamlessly adapt to multiple needs—serving as a study zone, a cozy spot for sleepovers, a hangout for friends, a packing station for camp, and more—all while maintaining a polished and inviting aesthetic.

Our goal was to maximize every inch of the space. We started with transforming an underutilized corner—once filled with scattered toys—into a sleek, custom-designed bunk area. These built-in bunks are as practical as they are stylish, featuring integrated storage drawers within the staircase to keep essentials organized and out of sight.

To accommodate the family’s love for hosting, we incorporated a pullout trundle bed, ensuring plenty of room for sleepovers. Every detail in this Long Island design project was carefully considered, from space-saving solutions to high-end finishes.

Across from the bunks, we made a slanted ceiling nook into a built-in desk area—an ideal spot for studying, reading, and creative projects. Nestling the desk into this space allowed us to incorporate a large workstation table, perfect for board games, group projects, and camp packing sessions.

And despite all these functional additions, there’s still plenty of open space for dance parties!

To create a cozy and inviting atmosphere, we chose plush carpeting—so soft and comfortable, it practically invites you to kick off your shoes and linger. We installed a faux wood performance wallcovering that not only enhances the durability of the room but also evokes a chic ski house vibe. The textured finish adds depth and warmth, making the room feel like a luxurious mountain retreat.

And then there’s the final artistic touch—the piece de résistance—a vintage ski lift chair repurposed as a swing. Suspended from the ceiling, this playful yet stylish addition immediately became the room’s focal point. It’s not just a swing; it’s a conversation starter, a cozy reading nook, and a reminder of the family’s love for skiing adventures.

Seeing the room come together was immensely rewarding, but the best part was the reaction from the family.

They couldn’t wait to start making memories in their new favorite space, from late-night study sessions to lazy Sunday afternoons spent swinging in the ski lift chair. This project was a beautiful reminder of why we love what we do: creating spaces that not only look stunning but also become an integral part of our clients’ lives.

Turning this forgotten room into a hub of joy and togetherness was a dream come true for both the family and for us.
