5 LAWS OF LUXE

No design is Luxe without our 5 go-to design rules. We use them so often, they have become our Laws of Luxe. Once you start incorporating these into your projects, you won’t believe the difference they can make!

#1 That’s Odd: When accessorizing your home, the goal is to create a luxurious look that appears put together but doesn’t scream that you tried too hard. Don’t seek perfection, but rather an effortless and natural design. To do this, we love grouping and arranging accessories in odd numbers and varying heights. Whether it’s one, three or five accessories in a vignette, you can never go wrong with this Luxe law.

#2 Think Big: A design is not complete until it creates a visual impact, or ‘wow’ factor. This means stepping outside of your comfort zone and opting for oversized elements like art and area rugs. Pairing your design with a stunning oversized work of art creates drama, interest, and emotion. It also becomes the ultimate conversation piece! When it comes to your area rugs, bigger is better. Often, clients think that if they choose a smaller rug, their room will appear larger. The opposite is true! An appropriate sized area rug will enhance your design and visually enlarge any room.

#3 Layers of Lighting: Nothing creates luxury, mood, and drama in design more than lighting. Our Luxe law of layering lighting will have a long-lasting impact on the overall design. Be generous when incorporating task, accent, and ambient lighting, and where possible opt for dimmers. You’ll thank us later!

#4 Jewelry for your space: You’re bored of your bedroom dresser but not quite ready to invest in new furniture. Your kitchen is slightly outdated and you’d like to go more modern. Your dining credenza has lost its spark. The solution? Nothing breathes luxe into design more than beautiful hardware. It’s a quick and cost-effective approach that dramatically changes your space. The options for style, size, and finish are endless!

#5 Au Naturale: Your design is complete…or so you thought! What’s one element that adds luxury and balance? Plants! At Luxe, no design is complete without bringing in this natural element. Rich in texture and color, plants add life to any design. They even help reduce toxins in the air and improve air quality. And not to worry, if your thumb isn’t the greenest, there are still great options out there for you. We love the look of succulents and cacti, as they are interesting and require very low maintenance. Even the smallest of apartments can enjoy the beauty of plants by incorporating wall planters in varying sizes.
